When I was in London a Nigerian guy told me about the Northern part of Nigeria which is muslim and more rural.
He said poorer families there would perform a certain ritual before marriage to proof the bride is still a virgin.
He told me, they take an hard-boiled egg and stick it in the woman’s vagina.
If it doesn’t manage to go through then everything is ok because the bride is a virgin.
But when it passes through it means she is not a virgin anymore..

How it is carried out is a mystery to me but elder women do perform irginity testing on brides to be in many cultures.
